CD Mastering

The first 2 tunes are back from Grand Mastering now & are sounding good. It's all a learning curve for me but all the polishing & filtering we can get is welcome with me.

Spontaneous (Human Combustion) and Caught in the Crossfire (between Savage & Divine) are both getting ready to go to CD pressing (ok, burning) land.

Letting Go...?

Well, we have mixed & tweaked the Jurassic Punk tunes for weeks now & it is time for me to let go. It never will be perfect but I have to say "OK, it's done" and let them go to mastering. I could continue to micro-produce for months more but it needs to go to the next level.

So Peter Beacock of "Grand Mastering" Waterloo, Ontario will handle the last step & make all the songs the same volume & "sound like radio music".

That leaves press kits & finding a manager as the final steps b4 "Jurassic Punk EP" is launched @ an unsuspecting world.

One more session..!

One more quick vocal recording session next week then the "Jurassic Punk EP" will be done.

Release date had to be pushed back to Jan 1/11 but the blocks are all in place..online availability of disc & downloaded tracks is in place @ CDBaby.com.

New Amps

I have decided to go with stereo tandem amplifiers for my sessions & CD releases. Upon ordering in 2 Traynor Dark Horse 15 watt amps & 2 Dark Horse 12" speaker cabinets I realized I would have to elevate them closer to ear level.

So next stop was buying 2 hard plastic milk crates & then a collapsible 2 wheel dolly to tote the suckers around.

I am planning to split the signal from my guitar with my stereo chorus or slap echo unit both of which have dual output jacks.

Nothing like an ear unheard experiment..!!

STUDIO BOOKED

Brixton Studios in Kitchener has been booked for the weekend of Oct 15-17 2010 for the 1st 4 cuts of Jurassic Punk. Looking forward to "the process" and getting a quick EP out to contacts & for sale @ CDbaby.com.

The Axeman cometh

The new Fender Custom Shop recreation of an early 50s Esquire has arrived @ long last.

I am replacing the rusted hardware & love this funky old instrument.

The first 4 tunes are arranged & ready to be recorded in October in Kitchener.

I will evaluate if these "studio" musicians work out for the 2nd half of the songs and live record release gigs. I have chosen a studio & allocated the funds to do this 1st session of Jurassic Punk.

The work has begun..!

Working with Brent King of BRK Productions to assemble all of my original songs and decide what goes on the new CD. 4 are ready to be recorded...5 to go..! The new music this style of "Spunk" is part blues part punk & I have re-written some of the lighter hearted pieces into one major form.

Some "punk" spunk & some "spunk-a-billy"...let's rock :-)

"BIGFOOT IN A BOX"

Inspired by the hi-jinx of the two law enforcement "professionals" in Georgia who claimed they had stumbled across a dead sasquatch in the woods of their state, I have a new tune on the way : "Bigfoot in a Box" about my life growing up in the woods of northern Canada. Personally I hope we soon get proof because I Believe..!!!! The specimen "found" by our Georgia friends turned out to be a 7' Hallowe'en costume stuffed with smelly roadkill. Nice try guys, I hear they are under indictment & unemployed..whoops..!

A new re-write..!

Finally a good re-write of an old Punk song worthy of the description "Spunk Music"..!

Quite a relief, I was stumped till tonite..!

July 2010 -BACK TO THE STUDIO

A new band & set of original tunes is taking shape.

We have begun the song selection process @ BRK Productions in Cambridge, Ontario.

This will be a lean & mean CD- "less is more"...play fewer notes but say more with them.

A couple of tasty covers will be included honoring the songwriters I respect, admire & who taught me the trade.

Cameron Continuum is taking to the stage this fall with an all new line up & 2 full sets of all original blues/rock/punk heretofore to be known as "Spunk" Music.

the snubbing complete, now back to life

An old friend/acquaintance from my hometown organized a concert with all the old (surviving) bands from my our youth. After 3 months of not hearing anything, I got a phone call & after thinking it over I agreed to bring a band & do a short set..! Well...then I was informed that my part was 2 tunes OUCH...! How can I bring a band from an hour away to play 2 tunes sometime in the evening. I consider this a kiss-off & a good snubbing. Especially hurtful are all the emails, youtubes & photos hailing it as another Woodstock.
Back to the real world for me.

Enough doubts & feelings..!

Today in the lineup to get into the carwash a second kiosk opened & before I could turn my wheels 2 rude drivers shot past me into the new lineup. What ever happened to common courtesy & as they say @ McDonalds "can I help who's next"..? So after we were inside waiting for our cars to pop out, I went close enough to get a good look @ the guy 2 cars ahead (now) & he was damn near my age; 55 @ least. A Course in Miracles gave me a prayer for this feeling of injustice: "By this do I deny the Father & the Son and I would rather know of Them than see injustice which Their Presence shines away"

age demographics..?

I knew I was on the way to my seat in the "phase out" demo-balcony when my pay sports channels started televising POKER..! How is poker a sport, a spectator event or even remotely entertainment by any twisted definition..? This so is sad and only matched by the disgrace of adult cartoons like the simpsons. I am reviled by the garbage the media force-feeds down the throats of my fellow man. The human mind is in-dwelt by a fragment of God Himself & needs to be nurtured & fed healthy, inspiring subject matter & artistic presentations not ridiculous time wasting non-art and the media's version of diarrhea.

a guilty chuckle

Today, coming back from some out of town calls in the pouring rain so I as usual left a good 100' or so safe stopping distance between myself & the car ahead. One then another impatient unsafe driver shot past me in the right lane & cut into the safe zone between cars. I couldn't get close enough to give them a look or a single digit salute so I had to be content with letting them race into a monster traffic jam while I (having passed that way already) make a nifty exit onto an alternate route home (quickly & safely). Whoops, so sad ☹

some music work..?

What does it take to find a competent band to get out & create some tunes/generate a bit of income..? After 2 months of back&forth talks: an invite to a pre-audition to make the audition to make it as stand-in guitarist for a basement band. I received a 6 paragraph anal wine-list of the does & don'ts for this so-called "blues band"..! For Christ's sake I have advertised that I would play anything from completely unplugged to punk. How hard can it be..? Well I guess the Higher Power doesn't want me out playing @ this time. Thy Will Be Done, not mine ☝☺

ah, gravity..!

Nothing like a bad fall on a raised cement pad @ work with both hands full..! Bruised liver created hep-like symptoms but @ 1st seamed like a concussion. What does it take to learn to slow down. Well I guess life's gift is the opportunity to start again to learn the lesson. So I will.!
